The Wacky, Weird, World of Dreams

By Miguel Lopez

Omens

One of the many interesting dreams we can experience is an omen. Also called

precognitive dreams, omens predict or foretell a certain outcome, whether it be a miracle or a disaster. It is believed that we see harbingers in dreams such as crows, which signal great difficulties. There are many popular omens in dreams including the sinking of the Titanic; where after the sinking of the Titanic took place, many people reported that they had dreams of the great ship sinking down into the depths of the ocean.

Doors

A door is a type of omen. Seeing a door in a dream could be a good or bad sign. They often symbolize new opportunities or challenges you may experience in the future. If a door is wide open, that means there is a new opportunity that could come up in your life. Locked doors indicate that a goal or desire may be unobtainable. They also indicate that there are people gossiping about you and you may not even know it. Doors found inside of a building are signs of difficulty in growth or drama. Because there are so many doors you could experience, we may never know what lies behind certain doors. The possibilities are endless.

Spirit Guide

It is quite common for dreamers to see a spirit guide in their sleep. Spirit guides are often depicted as animals, totems, gods or goddesses, beings of light, or even ancestors. The duty of a guiding spirit is to warn, teach, comfort, or support an individual. When we face difficulties in the real world, our spirit guide comes to us and shows us the way. They help give us the courage or information needed to make decisions or understand anything. Perhaps you are facing trouble right now. When you go to sleep, look for the guiding spirit and it will show you the way to peace and happiness in life.

Wolves

Wolves are some of the most misunderstood and feared creatures within dreams. They are very mysterious, but like people, they come in many forms. While wolves may be wild and ferocious beasts that will not hesitate to attack you, they may also be guiding spirits that are ready to aid you in your sleep. A wolf represents the wild side of yourself, which may be uncontrollable, but innocent and void of corruption. Wolves show us what we fear, but also what we must confront. They may be warning signals or creatures that help us deal with loss.

Wolves ultimately lead us to freedom and power.

Wanderers

If you are looking for a new friend, then the wanderer is exactly what you need. Meeting a wanderer means that you will have a new friend. It also means that a current relationship that you are having is unstable and you should find someone new. If you are the wanderer, then you are lost and not focused. You are roaming great lands in search of answers or someone or something new in life. Seeing a wanderer also indicates that going on a long journey while leaving behind loved ones is wrong, even if you think that it is right. It is often best to accept and be grateful for the things and people that you already have.

It is through ungratefulness that we become

confused, lonely, and sad.

Nightmares

Arguably the most fascinating dreams are the most terrifying ones. There is such mystery and intrigue surrounding nightmares. Nightmares reveal our true fears to ourselves and may even introduce us to new fears. Many of the common nightmares we see are related to the dead, the unknown, violence, and more. Across the globe, we see many cultures describing dream demons or creatures that cause one to have a nightmare such as the Mare, the Baku, and many more.

Illusions

Illusions are deceiving and often play many tricks on a person. Although we perceive all dreams as illusions, let us look at the specific illusions commonly seen within a dream. We often find many illusions in dreams and are completely caught off guard. For example, some may have experienced being trapped in a cycle of dreams, waking up just to find out that they are indeed still dreaming. With this illusion, each time you wake up, you doubt your surroundings a little more. Thankfully, the cycle can be broken once you actually wake up. Illusions can also take on physical forms, such as cats.

Cats symbolize an illusion, delusion, or confidence

in any idea that can not be proven.

Seeing a cat is one of the worst things that can happen in a

dream, since cats represent problems that are too difficult

to face when up against your own ego.
